Nuages 15"

More sound from small body

For a couple of years I've been thinking about the idea of a special construction that allows the top to vibrate freely without comprimising any response from the construction and string tension. As You know, string tension wants to move the neck up and top down, so the top has to be strong around the neck joint area so that this area does not vibrate. This new "neck-thru-the-acoustic-body" construction has the neck fixed to the tail of the guitar, allowing the soundboard to be tuned all the way up to the upper bout of the soundbox, which makes for much better projection and acoustic volume.

Electrics

"Nuages" has my own Swingmaster pickup, which is an exact replica of the old Rhythm-chief 1000, with the correct bobbin material, coil wire & alnico magnets. Vintage DeArmonds had very delicate construction, they were beautiful pickups, with sophisticated highs and round mids and great response for picking force. Their string balance was compensated for with different magnet sizes and special coil winds. My pickup sounds the same, but with adjusted string balance for today's stainless, or nickel wound strings. "Nuages" guitar also has an extra "dummy-coil", which is a coil without magnets, hidden inside the guitar, it doesn't make any sound,- it's just out of phase for "bucking" the hum, or noise.
