AJL-Gypsyguitars can be ordered in "Natural" "Aged" or "Vintage" finish. (excluding Model X-O)
"Sound always comes first" - instead of the thick plastic finish of factory made guitars, AJL-guitars are always finished as thin as possible to reduce mass and avoid the muting effect of thick plastic finish. Natural shellac is always used instead of sealer under a thin coat of "old school" nitrocellulose, then wet-sanded and polished by hand
Cleared shellac is used as a sealer under nitrocellulose lacquer.
"Aged" finish has uncleared shellac under nitrocellulose lacquer.
"Vintage" finish has brown uncleared shellac under nitrocellulose lacquer.
